Navigation
The navigation specialty course teaches you how use both a compass as well as natural navigation to find your way around. There are signposts to aide in navigating. You just need to know how to find and read them. So far, there is no underwater GPS, so divers need to know what these signposts are and be able to use them to keep track of their location and exit point throughout the dive. The SSI Navigation course provides the training to do just that.
The primary goal of any specialty course is to teach you important skills in a fun environment.
KNOWLEDGE: All courses are taught using home study and short academic sessions.
SKILLS: In-water training gives you the opportunity to practice the skills needed to successfully perform in the open water.
EQUIPMENT: Due to the nature of the specialty, there is specific equipment that enables you to expand your diving experience.
EXPERIENCE: By learning the material of the specialty course, you can enhance your diving experience as a more knowledgeable, confident, safe and comfortable diver.
