Join Scuba Hut of Maryland on our annual dive trip to Crystal River, Florida February 23 – 26 2012. Dive the warm, clear waters of King’s Spring, Three Sisters Spring, and the Rainbow River. Snorkel with the Manatees as they lounge at their winter haven in the protected areas of King’s Bay.
This is an excellent opportunity to complete the dives for specialty courses in clear warm water without the expense of a trip to the Caribbean. Many people also take advantage of this trip to dive some of the many well known springs and caverns in the central Florida area such as, Devil’s Den, Blue Grotto, and Paradise Springs. The warm, crystal clear waters of these spring fed sites make them tremendously attractive to divers, especially those used to honing their skills in the local quarries of the mid-Atlantic.
Past experience shows that this trip fills quickly. We all know that the winter means snow in Maryland. Shake those winter doldrums and get in some warm water dives at a reasonable price. Snorkel with the manatees. These gentle giants winter in the warmer waters of the river when the Gulf of Mexico has turned colder. The popularity of this dive site is in part due to the a) warmer weather, b) proximity -closer than the Bahamas, the Keys, or the Caribbean, as well as c) the added attraction of the friendly in-water inhabitants.
Certified divers, Knock the cobwebs off your skills and dive equipment and start the dive season early. Take a break at the end of February to releive the cabin fever of the winter months and jump back in the water.
